Keysha Gomez has always been a danceur! She began her dance career at Miss Roni's School of Dance in Miami, FL at the age of two. She was a student of the Expressive Arts Magnet Dance Department at C.R. Drew Elementary and Middle Schools before completing her High school training as a principal dancer at Miami Southridge Senior High School's premiere dance program. Keysha was a featured dancer in the County's Superintendent Showcase and was selected to attend dance intensives with the Alvin Ailey School of Dance camps. Keysha flourished in High school as a majorette, was a founding member of the school’s Afrocentric awareness club, Essence of Sisterhood, was voted Most Likely to Succeed in the Performing Arts department, and was the recipient of Miami-Dade County Public School’s Silver Knight Award for Performing Arts and a nominee of the Silver Knight Award for volunteerism. During that time, Keysha also established her church's dance ministry, producing choreography and leading the team in serving at numerous events across the County for 3 years before leaving for college. Keysha's dance career continued at Bethany College where she helped established their dance program and was part of their cheerleading team.
While Keysha paused her dance career to build her family, service to others never ceased. Keysha established H.O.P.E. for Tomorrow, a nonprofit organization in the City of Pittsburgh focused on helping youth and their families develop the skills needed to compete in the global economy. Of course, Keysha ensured that dance was always a component of the program. Keysha’s efforts produced a proclamation from the City of Pittsburgh naming H.O.P.E. for Tomorrow Day as September 16, 2014 and Keysha Gomez Day as November 19, 2018. Keysha was also the recipient of the Cupcakes Most Wanted Youth Ally award in 2018, VTP Counseling Service’s Passion Meets the Road entrepreneur award in 2018 was named one of the City of Pittsburgh’s 40 Under 40 in 2019. In 2023, she was a nominee for Professional Women's Network (PWN) prestigious Ladies Who Lead awards. Keysha’s commitment to the legacy of dance continued as she found creative ways to introduce the joy and discipline of her art to the next generation primarily through support of the efforts of her eldest daughter, K'aijha, to teach dance at various forums in the City of Pittsburgh.
Kulture Dance Academy was officially established in summer of 2020 amidst school and program shutdowns and a battle against a worldwide pandemic. At that time Keysha reminded the City of Pittsburgh and the world that Dance cannot be bound by hardship and, no matter what, true dancers do what they are born to do ... Dance!
